Sea Cows during their migrations will come to canal and rivers seeking fresh water. They often drink rain water pouring into the rivers and canals from the banks and are attracted to the sound of running water. They also know the location of under water springs where they stop to tank up on fresh water. When I worked at Pier Five in Miami as a mate on the Papa Sea Gull the manatee's would come to the dock and drink the water from the hose, holding it in their front flippers. Boat propellers and flood gates are the sea cows largest danger.
i wish i was there
