This is a completed Tweed Champ chassis I'm selling on Ebay. It demos 3 different power tubes: 6V6, 6L6GB and KT66. The amp uses a higher voltage power transformer than usual but is otherwise fairly stock.

  • This was from an Ebay sale. It was a Champ chassis that I hand built. I used a power transformer with a higher voltage so it would sound better with the larger tubes. In my opinion the larger tubes gave the amp a brighter sound that was more scooped in the mids than a 6V6 so it had more clarity in the cleans. It was a louder amp overall because of the higher plate voltages. I'm not sure if the sound difference was the tubes as much as impedence mismatching with the output transformer.

  • Thanks for posting this video. This helps me with my current tube amp. As far as I can tell the jump from 6V6 to 6L6GB tube produces the biggest difference sound wise. I couldn't really distinguish the SQ diff when the vid went from 6L6GB to the KT66 tube.

  • Can you run a el34 in this amp?
