Alexander Gow and Thomas Savage, the duo at the heart of Oh Mercy, blend evocative and intelligent lyricism with a strong pop sensibility on their debut album Privileged Woes, showcasing the depth of the young songwriters polished pop brilliance.

Privileged Woes was recorded in the spare room, the size of a single bed, by Myles Wootton - the band literally had to put the mattress against the wall to record. The album was then mixed by Matt Voigt (Cat Power, The Dirty Three, Paul Kelly) and mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound (TV on The Radio, The Strokes).

  • Everytime I hear this song its gets better and better...reminds me a bit of that excellent Scottish band, Camera Obscura.

  • Saw them live last night along side The Temper Trap and Joy Formidable. They were great. Amazing sound. Refreshing.

  • very clever

  • Oh mercy banned me from making any comments on any of their vids, because I mentioned once that Keith St has IDENTICAL vocal melody to a well known song "sorrow" by DAVID BOWIE. So I think Oh MERCY is completely unoriginal crap being spoonfed, mainly to anyone young enough to not know any better or anyone stupid enough to not understand at least a few of their "fantastic" songs are terrible rip offs.;)

  • @MJoe6769 He really does seem super charming. He's like Hugh Grant... Except I like him.

  • Awesome

  • Alexander Gow is simply fantastic - saw him on a taping of RockWiz in Melbourne and he is charming and witty (I think Julia fell in love with him). Love this song!

  • great Australian music!
