In this lesson we go over 3/4 swing, and 5/4 swing. There's a few different ways to play 3/4 swing by switch up the hi-hat pattern and also the ride cymbal pattern.
With 5/4 there's also a few different ways to play it. Unlike 3/4 there's two ways to group 5/4. 3+2 and 2+3. I take you over 3+2 and a couple different ways to play the hi-hat pattern. 2+3 swing is something that is rarely heard, so we're just going to stick with 3+2.
this looks like one of the berklee practice kits

@jinjin45 the drumbeat is either done with an electronic drumkit or edited-sounds, because of that it could sound like almost anything.

Odd Time Swing..... This is just a basic Jazz Waltz in 3/4. To make it sound more like a jazz waltz, you need to speed it up a little and emphasize the one but still make it flow. Like when a conductor doesn't give each beat but the downbeat of each measure. If you want better independence then you need to get "Advanced Techniques for The Modern Drummer" which was written by Chapin a long time ago. Have fun!
