A possible problem with this approach to preaching is that Washer makes delineations that Jesus doesn't make. No matter how much we "repent" and try to live a "holy" life, the only thing that still saves us is the Cross. This is why emphasis on salvation, Jesus and the Cross rather than our own righteous living and works is important. It's only when we focus on the former that we experience true righteousness inside and out.

I just listened to a sermon today by Spurgeon that talks about faith and repentance being inseparable. If Washer were speaking of repenting apart from faith, I'd agree, but everything I've heard from him has been in agreement with repenting and believing on Christ. If he were preaching repentance apart from faith, I agree, it would be very harmful.

Admittedly, I've heard of Spurgeon's sermons on this but haven't checked them out myself yet. While I agree that you can't separate repentance and faith, I do think that grace and the message of the cross comes before repentance and faith.

man if you have a problem with how paul washer is preaching, then you have a problem with the word of God, and that means you have a problem with God. This is exactly how i preach, and how you should be preaching! We can not be afraid to offend people, for the gospel challanges people so it will offend people. We preach like this today, because we are tired of just the little itty bitty ear tickles today, and not hearing about repentance, and turning from sin! Maybe some people have a probelm

BELIEVERS.. fear this message... feel this message to be to harsh.. it brings pain to my spirit to hear ones who actually believe would compromise the word of God just to soften the blow.. to dull the blade.. what does the bible say loving God is? can you answer that? what does it mean to love God? and their are so many Christians who reject this kind of message why? because their afraid they would have to change their lives and give it up for Christ.. :'(

@ericplittlerock1 That holy life comes through Jesus Christ dying for you on the cross and not by you living a 'holy' life. Jesus and the Cross comes first not your repentance efforts at "holy living".

@melonbarmonster - The cross won't save you unless the one who died on it for our sins lives inside of you and makes you holy! Count how many times the new test calls you to be holy, and how many times in Revelation. If the cross saved everyone just by that one act then why do we still have a lost world? And if Jesus didn't plan for us to be holy then why did he teach us how to be holy for 3 years? You need to get alone and read the bible. Stop listening and reading other peoples material

I got no beef with Washer. He's real, not sugar-coating the Truth. I used to dislike him, but only because I was convicted by his message. But I love him for it now though.

@14sstinger I would add; live life according to JESUS, spend time in prayer get to know your creator, HE will manifest himself to you daily, listen. Unless you repent you wont be able to please him or know what pleases him. Praise Yahushua ! (JESUS) Love jesus more than your fleshy desires and all the things of this world which are perishable !

@CrazyKing570 following JESUS isn't easy, we have to deny ourselves completely and pick up our cross and follow, people want to embellish it. The rewards are in fact amazing spiritually, but its a hard path to be on ( we lose friends family and our lifestyle changes, we consider all lost for CHRIST, so worth it.) Praise JESUS!!!!
