For those of you who have only seen the film version, here's what this song is supposed to sound like, with the ensemble begging for more of Mrs. Lovett's delectable meat pies. This is one number I did not think worked particularly well in the film, as it sounds kind of dumb with just the solo vocals.
No, this isn't perfect (especially the blocking), but I think overall we did a good job with the singing, especially considering this is the single most difficult song in a show known for its difficult music. It's the hardest thing I have ever worked on and I'm proud of how it turned out.
Sorry the picture's kind of blurry. The camera we used didn't know how to deal with all those bright stage lights.
Performed at Catawba College in November 2005.
I'm so glad that this is on the internet!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

This is your Sweeney's thesis role? He has no emotion whatsoever... I find myself throughly uninterested in him.

I agree! It is so very funny to see the chorus of customers eating the pies and saying, "God thats good"! Having no clue!

They, in my opinion, should have kept at LEAST one or two of the "God, That's Good"'s in the song for the movie... It doesn't work without it, if you ask me...
