According to a 2009 poll, 54% of the British population are in favour of the death penalty. Comedian Romesh Ranganathan has a few things to say to them...
Find out more about our work on the death penalty, at amnesty.org.uk/deathpenalty
One special case where we might discuss reinstating the death penalty: starting a war. A war of choice. Invading another country, which routinely involves the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians. That might deserve the death penalty. At least have a good long, intricate, expensive death penalty trial. I'm sure this is what the 594 people are thinking about ;-)
The vast majority of the 594 would change their minds if they actually thought about it and heard the arguments expounded in this video. Here in Australia I use 2 cases (1) Where a woman commited infanticide but her "unlikely" story found to be true (watch the movie "Evil Angels" (aka "A Cry in the Dark") (2) A member of a "terrorist" organisation places a bomb outside a meeting with many high international leaders, later found to be framed. It can never be justified.
when i was in child care fighting physical or otherwise and playfulness was dealt with violence, thats children bieng beaten for "misbehaving", in several instances by a Pacifist who was described as a loving person, a hippy which in my experiences as you can no doubt tell is easier to pronounce and spell than hipocrite.

How about it: death penalty for starting a war?
(Why does no one poll these things?)

I was surprised that it's 54%. I thought the UK would be more anti-death penalty. I'm sure it's higher in the U.S.

You are absolutely right! I just this video could get the views it deserves.
