Who's Afraid of the Working Class? Is the story of fringe-dwelling
Australians living in an age of social, cultural and economic deprivation.
The characters of the four intertwining stories are predominately
without work, politically uninterested and abandoned by the society in
which they struggle to survive.
The four snapshot pieces,
Trash --
The heart wrenching story of two
abused young children, abandoned by the world they live in,
who struggle to survive on the cold streets of Melbourne.
Dream-town --
Two lower class public school girls are caught
shop-lifting, & are hauled before police before
being held in suspicion of a crime far more heinous.
Money --
A story of a lower class family struggling to meet ends meet.
Torn apart by the need for economic stability and an inability
to communicate with each other.
Suit --
The journey of a young aboriginal man estranged from reality.
Unable to connect with his culture, the people in society and
even himself.
These stories combine to provide a terrifyingly honest portrayal of
working class Australians working at survival in an urban wasteland.
