Part of the problem is the music. Nowadays, it seems composers want to take an easy out and make ambient symphonic music. I miss the raw power of old sound chips, because back then, the composers put their all into the song. Now with all the updated technology, it seems they got lazy. I mean, if they want to use realistic symphonic style, then it shouldn't be ambience, it should be more musical and melodic like Castlevania: SoTN. Also, emphasis on drum and bass were a big part of what was good.

I put this on during Dungeons and Dragons when the group reached a town. I've been playing SNES music for literally years, but this one stopped them dead in their tracks for a minute.
