I think I will like you more if you stayed on in the army, focus your time in military and just stayed in green, not white. Thumbs up for content, middle finger for delivery.

Sir, what is this so-called "populist sentiments" are you talking about? Are you saying that the past NSmen (who were also Reservists themselves once before) and in the end has becomes only common people; don't gave a damn with the defence of our country? Before you even talked about your current Reservists, let me tell you that the 49'ners and those born after them, served their National Service long before you and you current Reservists were ever even born! ...cont below...

Our parents made sacrifices wholeheartedly! We paid our dues to the country whether we liked it or not. We did our in-camp training every year as dutifully as anyone could wish for. On the contrary instead of asking us past Reservists to respect them young ones, you should have asked them young ones to kowtow to us past Reservists first before you even dare asked us to respect them. This ought to have been done with every new batch of Reservists. ....cont below...

As former COA, in effect you yourself are doing us past Reservists a great injustice by not recognizing our past efforts and by not giving us the credits due to us after having performed our duty as required by SINGAPORE LAW! Instead you've forgotten and disparaged us as "populists" (since we're the people too you know). So is it true then that when one had out lived their usefulness they're being discarded like toilet paper? ...cont below...

Is that what's going to happened to your current Reservists that when they've completed their duty; that they too will be chuck to one corner of Singapore and be forgotten with? What makes you think that any sane Singaporean would and could entertained such thoughts that your current Reservists are "playing masak-masak and that they're not doing anything serious" since every Singaporean male child has to do NS any one of these days or has completed their 2-3 years stints! ...cont below...

After all, when we're at WAR, their life and their loved ones; including everything they owned in Singapore, are at stake here! Even if they're poor. Are your current Reservists any much different from us past Reservists? If they're, in what are they any different? I ask you, who and where are those people whom you claimed entertained such so-called "populist sentiment" who looked down upon your current Reservists? -End-

Sir what is this "masak-masak" are you talking about? If what you said is true, then you has failed in your duty as Chief of Army. 23 years of your command in the military has produced the false preception in people that in-camp training is playing "masak-masak." After 46 years of "masak-masak", shouldn't Mindef convene a Citizenry Board of Inquiry as to why this is so & fire those top brass responsibled for this treacherous outcome before revamping the entire SAF military training system! LOL!

If they so bloody clever to be the gov for the last 46 years then they should be smart enough to defuse any damn situation that arises. If they're not up to it, then they should resign and let other people who can do it run the show. We acknowledge the gov's many years of effort in building up the SAF to what it is today. We do appreciate, honour and applaud the young people's determination & commitment to die for the nation. We're not questioning their loyalty nor deny them their strength.

You said, "It takes one minute for other people who wish us ill, to get angry with us and to threatened us." Sir, your 2nd points borders on and smell of warmongering. You've selected to run for office in a GE and not for the War Minister's post. Why tell us our neigbouring countries' animosities at this time? If there're such travesties, its the gov's job to handle the dilemma amicably so that we don't have to go to war what? If not, then we vote for them for what? Collect hugh gaji buta ah?

You said, "In my short time with the SAF in the last 20 years, there were many occassions where we've to stand our ground and stare down the competition in order for us to have the space to be called S'poreans." Is this true? I was not privvy to such info. Were all such incidences ever publicized in the ST? Or was it kept under wrap? Did it posed a danger to the country and its people? If it did, were they being told? If not, why not. Who're these alleged competitors? We've the right to know.
Come on. Be fair. This man was a general. He is supposed to stand firm else our country won't stand firm. He has to tell you the reality of war. You won't want a koo niang to head your military. Give him time to transit to being a politician. In your first job, didn't your employer give you time to adjust?
