No, not at all. The attenuator doesn't change what's happening in the circuit, just the final volume level. That means that the key impact is that the speakers aren't moving as much at full attenuation as they are at 6 or 3db or no attenuation.
Honestly, my ears and the ears of all the other guys who have played it or heard it cannot tell. If you want to hear it at no attenuation and then compare, I can send you some MP3s (if you have a gmail account). Let me know.

Just to add - the clip above is at 6db attenuation. That's what the amp sounds like. No suckage of the tone, in my humble opinion. Just great tone. You can hear it again if you click on the photo of the 5 mics at the right...
