This is great! It works and is amazing. To put it together right, be sure to view the video demonstration of turning the magnets so that all three in the front attract each other and the 3 in the back repel. The other tip is to place the pencil's front magnet about 1/8 inch to the rear of the two front magnets that are attached to the base.

Similarly be sure all three rear magnets are turned so that they repel each other. the other important thing to do is place the front pencil magnet about 1/8 inch to the rear of the front magnets on the base.

@dcyli if you took the maybe 15 seconds to look at my channel you would have seen am from the uk were we don't have a middle school. but I believe if I was in US I would be in the last year of high school.
and tbh I felt this really did need to be correct'd as you have shown your self by naming another resistance or friction.
