Also, Charlie Chaplin made a comedic movie about WWII and Nazi's that many thought would ruin his career and they thought the subject was to touchy to approach but it became one of his greatest piece of works. "The Great Dictator" is still being studied in history classes and has possibly one of the greatest final speeches in the history of cinema.
During the great depression there were record number of homelessness and starvation. Yet in these times one great comedian embodied the times of his people and provided great comedy and education that reflected the woes of society that no one wanted to talk about. Through this he inspired many and gave the hope of laughter to a people in need. And that great man was Charlie Chaplin.
It's 2010 and if we are not as evolved as the people of 1939 then we are going backwards.
Homelessness isn't funny. The majority of chronically homeless men are war veterans. Many are mentally ill and use drugs or alcohol. Our country does not have the mental health facilities, drug rehabs or shelters to help these people, however our country does criminalize homelessness. It is a crime to sleep in public. It is even a crime to feed a homeless person or allow a homeless person to sleep/camp in our own yards. We have dehumanized those living on the streets. This isn't helping.
How do these not have more views? haha
I liked it.
