It actually probably *is* asthma... Some kitties produce extra mucous when their lungs are inflamed, so they end up trying to cough it out. Sometime it goes away on its own if it's caused by allergies, but most cats that have 'attacks' take meds every day to control it, since it can be fatal.

@calyx93 This isn't feline asthma. This is a wet cough. I wish I knew what it was because my kitty has it as well. Have been to 4 different vets and we can't get a diagnosis. Can anyone help??

How is your cat doing these days? I hope he is much better.

I would prop him up on his feet really gently and soothe him as well while he's coughing. It sounds like he's trying to cough up some fluid. What has your vet said?

This is feline asthma - really, it is - you need to get your cat looked at soon.
Oliver was diagnosed with cat asthma, or "casthma," as I like to call it. We moved into a home with wood floors, and I found a new home for my two cockatiels. I also bought an air purifier and I'm happy to say Oliver is much better. He rarely has any coughing fits. I'm very diligent about vacuuming and keeping things clean for him. He is a happy and healthy kitty now.
