Mini Tip: Foil Into Sheet Metal

LadyJaneWriter at the ThreadBanger forums made a cute foil covered book and then directed me to a podcast on using foil instead of tin.

There were some projects I'd wanted some sheet metal for, but since I recently moved, I don't have access to all the same tools I did before, and I was pleased to find that the foil method works alright!

Embossing designs into the foil also seems to actually help it be a bit stronger and look cleaner. If you need a perfectly smooth metal look, this may not be for you, but there are some projects it would be perfectly suited for.

where did u learn ur arts from?

I don't know, nowhere, I guess. Or maybe "here and there". This I learned when my friend directed me to a podcast to help me make a cheap tin replacement for a project. I guess I just fool around with things. I look on the internet or read a book or just experiment and just make up what I do. I haven't had any formal art training or anything, if that's what you mean.

Why thank you! My other one is pink and I have one out front that's red and it's HUGE and taking over the walk. Snails like to make love under it and rip it to pieces, so I feel it could probably be healthier... Poor thing. >.> It's like a bordello of slimy. x.....x

Aww! Poor dead hibiscus! If I knew more about them, I might offer a tip, but alas, I don't have a great green thumb. I give mine to nature and hope it takes care of them. >...>
