Aurora Spacelines was a conceptual design project made by Masters Degree candidates of Umeå Institute of Design in Umeå, Sweden.

One student from each of masters programme; Metin Kaplan from Advanced Product Design, Niklas Palm from Transportation Design and Terry Lim from Interaction Design; created the fictional company "Aurora Spacelines" that is providing high-speed orbital travelling service by using lightcrafts.

  • Yeah, except when the craft is in space it'll probably crash into one of the countless space junk we have.

  • @Jonathansa01 If it's small you can land on parachute.

  • This will never work for commertial use. It's just too dependant on the ground laser to work to be able to fly safely.

  • die glock

  • this would be great for escape pods or hovercraft

  • I want to believe....

  • i wanna see a vid about the first test at edwards base 1- years ago

  • I thought this was going to be a space elivator

  • It would scary as fuck entering the atmosphere in such a small dingy!!!

  • @Riechode

It would have to carry some small amount of on-board propellant. I think they plan to use water, but I don't know for sure.
