  • There is a new book out at Historic Aviation called "Japanese Secret Projects" (sub-titled Experimental aircraft of the IJA and IJN, 1939-1945)!

  • This is an old documentary, but still a good one. I did all the CGI in this one, as well as the other three "Secret Aircraft of WWII" shows. Check out my new stuff on my channel. Greetings from Texas.

  • @PhatFarm60

B-52 > 11 December 1947 was staved off by a plea from its president William McPherson Allen to the Secretary of the Air Force Stuart Symington.[23] Allen reasoned that the design was capable of being adapted to new aviation technology and more stringent requirements.

So two years later, and that's only for a concept. Also the jets would have performance still superior to the B-36.

  • @52111centrumcz Yes, hence the development of faster, higher bombers, the B-36 was in development in 1942 and the B-52 was already in planning by the time of Hiroshima

  • @PhatFarm60

but the jet interceptors had one major advantage and that is speed - with careful piloting they can avoid the P-51s and crash the bombers with impunity.

  • @Cyprus883 The Caproni Campini N.1 flew in 1940 was more of a pulsejet instead of a normal type jet and the Reggiane Re.2007 in 1943 a concept craft only that never really got built. The N.1 did indeed fly but material and cost proved it not pratical in war so never was used.

  • A quick note while he Shinden is indeed a inovative design it's cannard configuration was not exactly new technology the 1903 Wright Flyer is also a cannard configuration

  • @Cyprus883 nope not for my understanding

  • Sure, but, as history shows, A-bomb available RIGHT NOW, beats should-of, could-of, might-have-been designs.

  • Did Italy ever build jets during ww2?

  • lol the showed the Kawanishi g10n1 not the Nakajima ignore the other post.u can tell by the none contra-rotating blades on the nakajima plans and it had strait wings.kawanishi had a 4 bladed prop with elliptical wings

  • lol the showed the Mitsubishi g10n1 not the Nakajima
