Alright, I won't go into detail, cuz then I would have to look up what chord he forms, but don't stick to one key.

I would say keep to the pentatonic when he goes into the chorus, but switch to majors when he goes into the verses.

Now, for the last few verses, I would suggest you go into a minor/blues type scale.

I would suggest the scales be kept basic, since the song is simple, but sweet and straight to the point

But, if you don't know, switch it up by changing keys to the chords he uses
