The regular traveling fireball is Power Wave. The Desperation Move is Power Geyser.

Fatal Fury and Art Of Figthing were the games made to compete with SFII (especifically, because the first was never that sucessefull), whereas "KOF" started as a dream match between the FF cast and Ryo in the FF Special.

And every game done pretty much owns a bit to Karate Champ, the first sucessfull figthing franchise.

Did Yie Ar, also had the bonus stages that both SF and AOF ended up using too? I remember playing "Champ" and doing a bonus stage where you had to hit a Bull as many times as you could :p

@MisterWhat Also, Karate Champ caught on, passing Yie Ar on one big advantage over Yie Ar. In Karate Champ, it was the first martial arts game that allowed two players to go up against each other. Player skill vs Player skill. Much different and more challenging than learning predictable computer programmed responses. ;)

Yeah, technically it came out in 1984, and Yie Ar, in '85. Yie Ar was more popular at first because it was a true "tournament" style with different fighters challenging one fighter, ending with a "boss" character "The Blues". That served as the foundation for all the other competition/story line fighting games of SF and FF/AoF/KOF
