Lesson #6: Jump Rope Cardio Training (2009 Freddie's Modern Kung Fu)
Jumping rope is one of the best cardio exercises you can do and it costs next to nothing. It is more beneficial for a fighter/Martial Artist than running because first off it works your cardio extremely well and then it also teaches you to be light on your feet. It teaches you balance and coordination with your hands and feet, which is very important for a Martial Artist. Even if you do not have a rope you can just jump in place and act as if you have a rope, that is good training as well. You can practice this anywhere, indoors or outdoors. Its not as bad on the joints as running. Yes you should still run and jog but make sure you add jumping rope to your routine as well. You do not need to pay thousands of dollars for an elliptical machine or treadmill, this is by far one of the best cardio exercises you can do. I recommend to do at least 30 min. of cardio training a day.

Definately better, the great thing is that it works the arms a great deal as well. As you build endurance, try going faster and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's easy to run for 1 hour and even 2 hours, but to jump rope for 1 or 2 hours is not an easy thing to do.

I teach my own interpretation of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do that incorporates a lot of Wing Chun techniques. But I do not specialize in just Wing Chun.
