In response to the tapping sounds in the song. when he is singing, he is hitting his guitar most of the time and when he's playing without singing it's his foot. and sometimes it's a mix of both that we're hearing

@panbread89 Stephen Calt writin liner notes for Yazoo Records, Charley Patton Founder of the Delta Blues 1929-1934: High Water Everywhere 1 & 2 has guitar tuned to open A and pitch in C. open A on half them 24 songs on album. song pitches of open A tunings is C, B, or Bflat. guess he capoed it. them liner notes got all guitar tunings and pitches of songs on album. yall want tunings for any them other 22 songs jus send me a note an i happy to oblige ya. i hope Mr. Patton is in peace now.

@zerobob321 - I've read that he beat the heck out of the guitar box, in addition to them doing things when recoreding to amplify his foot stomping, so it's likely a combination of everything at different times. At times you can really tell its one or the other.
