R-Type 1987 Stage 7 and Final Boss

This is played on R-Types for the Playstation. This is not a continuous play from my other stage videos (these two are continuous though).

Areas of note Stage 7:
-sorry about the frame skipping at the beginning; my computer was being lame.
-yes, that really is a safe spot at the boss.
-alternatively, you can put your Force on the back and park the cockpit in that lower groove and time out the boss.

Areas of note Stage Final:
-interestingly enough I was playing on my SDTV and the extreme left and right screen were cropped. On the video signal we can see the entire R9, but I could only see the cockpit. Made it a little harder to dodge the disk at the beginning.
-I love the text at the end. \(^o^)/

@tapetedepadaria Haha, I don't own a Master System, but I'd play it if I did. I doubt if I'm great enough to pull it off. I've always had a really tough time with R-Type and R-Type II. =)

Great video, and my first time actually seeing all of stage 7 and 8. I played the crap out of this game back when it was up for grabs on the Virtual Console but I could never get past stage 7.

I've been playing this game on my PSP for over a year. Amazing fun, totally takes me back to my Sega days :-)

I'm stuck at the second spawn point on this level, bare, no power-ups or anything. I haven't watched your entire video because I don't want to spoil the ending for myself, because I DO plan on beating it, somehow, lol!

So this is the last level? Wow, so proud of myself!

@ryanmetheral The beginning of the video is stage 7. The stage with the black background is stage 8 - the final stage. I did a video in R-Type Dimensions where I played stages 7 and 8 starting without power ups if you're interested in seeing that.

Ever since I played RTT and RTF, I've felt that R-Type has one of the best examples of story in a video game. This is stacked up against the garbage games that come out today and ram their lame story down your throat with 20-45 minute cut scenes. R-Type just hints at what happens and forces you to think about it (or not), but the gameplay remains stellar, proving that it's a game first, and makes it worth every penny you paid for it.

And yeah, R-Type pilots always suffer the worst fates.
