A project long time coming. Dubbed, 'Toy Box' Synthesizer, this do it yourself toy synth case allows me to take the gear on the road. All keyboards are powered via power supply, so no batteries are used. Everything is velcro-ed in place so you can literally carry this around without worrying about stuff falling out. Song demo uses Korg's DS-10 demo music as well as the Bloom music app on the Apple iPod touch. Items that make up the keyboard: Casio SA-1 / PT-1 / SK-8, Nintendo DSi with Korg DS-10 plus, Korg Monotron, Apple iPod with music apps, Behringer mixer with effects on board.

    hello @radiers|

are you plugging every bit of kit into the behringer mixer? mmmm

cause... I may sound dumb... i see 6 pieces of gear into a 10 input mixer

the small Casio i think is mono and are you using the monotron in mono too?

    thanks!

Monotron, iPod and Nintendo DSi are running in stereo. Casios (3) in MONO. I'm running the sampling keyboard in mono on one of the stereo channels on the mixer. So to answer your question, yes! Using up all channels except one on the mixer.

Damn. That really sounds sweet. What did you record this on? The sound is so clear,...crystal clear. It's amazing the sound you're getting with those cheap, toy keyboards. I had a VL-1 as child back in the early 80's & also some other "Casitone" keyboards.(though I forget which models). They're all gone now. The only "toyish" keyboard I have now, is a mid-80's, Yamaha VSS-100 (sampling keyboard). I also have a Casio HT-6000. It has built in speakers & all that, but it's not really a "toy".

A vintage 1978, "Bee Gees Rhythm Machine" (made by Mattel) would look good in there. It's about 1 ½ the size of the Korg Monotron & they usually go for under $25 on Ebay. It's used in Kraftwerk's song "Pocket Calculator".

The signal-to-noise ratio seems to be really good, is there any DI-box or de-noise pedal in the signal chain? Really sweet sounds btw, fits together nicely!

I would be totally jealous if I didn't know I could have that full rig for under $700.

I like the case and that it fits on a keyboard stand. Gives me some good ideas. I have some Ikea shelf brackets that would make a cool case.
