Bowling Great Danny Wiseman shows how perfect timing works! He makes it look effortless, but the ammount of power he generates from his smooth timing just rips the rack!. You will see him start to move his ball on the 2nd step(of the 5 step approach), it look as though he lets the ball 'fall' into his stride(the right foot) and swing under his head, the arm actually straightens at the bottom of the swing(during the backswing). He uses his elbow as a 'sliding hinge' during the push-away. As the ball swings towards the back and reaches the top of the swing, he will 'sync' his 4th step(right foot) as the ball momentarily 'pauses' at the top of the backswing. This is also known as the 'power step'. Now as he goes into the slide(left foot) the arm will accelerate to the release point of the swing plane(at the toe of the sliding foot). The speed of acceleration will make the hand 'overtake' the elbow on the downswing, and from the side view, you'll see the arm isn't in a full extention. However at the release point, the arm straightens as he extends it out towards his target(ie.arrows). This creates a 'snap' effect, much like a frisbee throw, we 'snap' our wrists to create 'spin' on the frisbee. At the point of release, his hand is also on the side of the ball, much like a 'handshake' position(aka. 10 o'clock thumb position). This creates side spin, and with the massive ammount of revs and side spin he generates with his technique, the ball will appear to travel straight down the lane before making a sharp left turn and exploding into the rack! By the way those are gold 'tour' pins(3 lbs. 10 ozs.), much heavier than the white 'house' pins.

  • I also am a silver level USBC coach and there really is no true "perfect" timing. Because a great bowler can adjust timing for different results because Tommy Jones can rip the cover off the ball with "less than perfect timing".

  • yes that's true, but my def on perfect time would mean the technique will stand the test of time and allow the athlete to perform consistently throughout his/her life, over almost all kinds of lane conditions and equipment evolution. If you look closely, tommy and danny will share many similar characteristics.

  • thanks bowlerdude, i'm a usab silver coach(00) and current national youth development coach in malaysia. i will upload in more videos of this nature soon, hopefully a ball reaction guide of TRACK balls. I have tons of videos, just not too much time on my hand to edit and post them, i will get around to it and hope it will benefit the bowling community. BTW.. Danny's one of the nicest tour guys i've met, i'd like to see him win more, he deserves to.

  • Wow, that was pretty old video of Danny Wiseman

  • Why is their so much bad publicity around the whole 2 handed bowling thing?

I don't see why this is apparently "ruining" the sport?

Belmo has given the PBA nothing but publicity and I don't see how that ruins things?

Yes, I am a 2 handed bowler, and its completely saved my game. I broke a bone in my wrist a few years ago, and my wrist isnt strong enough to put anything on the ball now. Its not just a case of more revs for everyone, for some people its a necessity.

  • how the fuck can you say two handed bowling is wrong or that it will mess up our sport?? U need to just shut the fuck up it is perfectly fine to bowl what ever way you choose. i dont give a shit if you throw the ball with your fucking mouth.

  • danny is in no way a power player

  • Guru, Danny is more of a power player now. His push away is no longer semi-controlled. In his early days he would hold the ball down by his right ankle and guide the ball into his back swing. He would then get his power step into position at the apex of his swing. His style then is similar to Steve Kloempken's style now, if you have ever seen Kloempken bowl. With his smooth and non-controlled push away and relaxed armswing Wiseman is able to create more acceleration and thus more power.

  • Hasn't resin done that? I don't really see how 2-handed bowlers would ruin anything. But whatever. Obviously you envy 2 handed bowlers or something of the sort if you are so bitter about it.

  • I didn't realize me telling you to shut up was a jumping off point for you to comment back. I am plenty old enough to know you're a nobody whose opinions don't matter, so shut up.
