  • I sang this song to my parents in 1975 when I dropped out of college and hit the road. My Dad cried. The words were uncannily appropriate......

  • When I was choosing segments to post on YouTube for Homespun I was struck by the timeless quality of this song.

  • Wow Wow Wow!

  • This is a beautifull song!!!!

  • fuck this made me cry ;/

  • Wow!

  • Wow, I fell in love with this song as a high schooler and it has stuck with me for about 40 years now. I remember singing this song for my parents when I was 22 and leaving the home that I grew up in. It was an emotional time. Tom Rush, you are one of the best!

Interestingly, when I worked this song out for my self years ago, I did it out of a D position, not the C position, like you did it in originally.

  • While i listened to this it occurred to me that my son who recently finished college and at a job, and his own place .... wasn't going to be coming back home to stay.

My heart broke a little. He's doing great. Me, i miss him every day.

  • ty i owe u,,, tab me for a coffee
