  • StormBIG is right; this tip from Billy does work. On my strike ball, I like to keep the index finger and pinkie in as flush as I can, comfortably, against the other fingers. On spares, I spread them, and the combination of the two really helps me :)

  • i can throw one and what i do to do it is you break the wrist back and hold it like your fingers are on the side. then at release squeeze the fingers together and snap them to the thumb and i don't know how it does it but it does it for me

  • This is a tip I've never heard of to regulate ball speed. Interesting.

Yep, Billy Hardwick is a full roller, apparently he had to retire from bowling early due to arthritis. Serious bummer as he was well-known as a formidable opponent.

There are probably very few people around any more who even know HOW to throw a full roller... yeah, it would have been neat to see him bowl.

  • I would have loved to see Billy Hardwick throw a ball. He's totally a time machine bowler: I don't even think he throws a semi-spinner, I think he's a full roller. The hint definitely works, but as was said above (and as was taught by the 1950's generation of pro's), I prefer to hold the ball higher, slow down my approach, and get a naturally higher back swing. That strategy was perfected by Earl Anthony.

  • people who keep saying hes muscling the ball this tip isnt real it is i use this tip to slow it down and speed it up and it works pretty well

  • the problem was that he was losing the balls momentum coz it was rolling out

  • Billy looks like he doesn't want to be there.

  • He threw that first ball EXTREMELY slowly and not the way he normally does. He's now 65 and has rolled a handful of 800 series and 300 games, so he has no room to complain about getting older and not being as good. "Son of a gun!" :D

  • He could of moved left with his feet and arrows using that first release (assuming that was house shot)

  • yeah i agree. he put a little extra effort in that last shot.
