Making multiple selections can be tedious and time consuming.

The filter command speeds up this process and is little known by a lot of CAD users. Give it a try. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

  • @ChristIsRisenGR You're very welcome.

  • Thanks!

  • @PopeThunder - You can use the filter command to select attributes also. On the Select Filter pulldown list chose 'Attribute'. Or, switch all the layers off and then only turn on those you need. Then, move everything out of the way (the stuff you wish to keep) to another part of the drawing. Switch on all the unwanted layers - these will now be displayed in isolation. Select the whole lot with a window and delete.

  • FYI

I wish this could select bursted attributes. I have to take a plan with all kinds of equipment and hundreds of layers and bring it down to a few layers. When I use the quick select it picks them out one by one.

When I know the plan is ready I would typically use (LAYDEL) to pickup layers I want to delete.

I think the layer manager could be upgraded to incorporate sketchup's selection/deletion options.

  • @Volvo745T You're welcome. I've used it since 2000 and always found it very useful.

  • Thanks very much - I use ACAD 2007 and don't find Filter especially intuitive.
