only the most ardent fan could sit through the entire IE experience. it was funny to see the youtube
viewership numbers plummet after the film's mid-point.
on the other hand, with 'inland empire,' perhaps david 'got it out of his system'
and will do another 'elephant man' or equally fantastic film next. let's hope.

The last 30 minutes encapsulates why David Lynch should be making a new film instead of music.

firstly, I'm a Lynch fan, but the extremely dark presentation made the film inaccessible to me, for the most part. I do appreciate lynch'es experiment with video/exposure, but for me it was more of a distraction.
plus, I think we can see what happens when a creative force has few restrictions, responsibilities to money partners or commerciality -- total freedom and a 'real' lost highway.

"We are like the spider. We weave our life and then move along in it. We are like the dreamer who dreams and then lives in the dream. This is true for the entire universe." It's always easier to make sense of the film the further away you are from watching it. But I was hoping that perhaps by having it on youtube with these comments right underneath each part, a more in-depth discussion might be possible.

throughout, I was searching for meaning, without much luck.

@joer123 I think to begin with, it's mostly about women so it may not be as easy to pick up on right away for men. I mean in terms of general themes, we have a lot of prostitutes and the inevitable comparisons get drawn between prostitution and marriage. Then we have a passel of abusive husbands in various levels of reality, on top of which we have an actress that can't seem to separate her life from narrative which kind of suggests to me the fact that we all construct the realities in which we

Thank you for this! It was spooky, cerebral, eerie, and incredible!!! =D Imho, my favourite part of the film was the music--it really added to the mood and suspense.
I bet it was an effor to upload it, but I really appreciate it.
