  • firstly, I'm a Lynch fan, but the extremely dark presentation made the film inaccessible to me, for the most part. I do appreciate lynch'es experiment with video/exposure, but for me it was more of a distraction.

plus, I think we can see what happens when a creative force has few restrictions, responsibilities to money partners or commerciality -- total freedom and a 'real' lost highway.

  • @joer123 Yea I agree with you. If there were someone to tell him to reign it in and actually sit down and think through the plot, a much more accessible and enlightening movie may have resulted. But on the other hand, I still think there's a lot of good stuff here.

  • live, which ties in nicely with the quote that Mr. Lynch read before presenting the film:

"We are like the spider. We weave our life and then move along in it. We are like the dreamer who dreams and then lives in the dream. This is true for the entire universe." It's always easier to make sense of the film the further away you are from watching it. But I was hoping that perhaps by having it on youtube with these comments right underneath each part, a more in-depth discussion might be possible.

  • Thank you for this! It was spooky, cerebral, eerie, and incredible!!! =D Imho, my favourite part of the film was the music--it really added to the mood and suspense.

I bet it was an effor to upload it, but I really appreciate it.

  • @lighthousedreamers You're very welcome! I'm just happy to give more people access to it.

  • @TheGenYgirl

only the most ardent fan could sit through the entire IE experience. it was funny to see the youtube

viewership numbers plummet after the film's mid-point.

on the other hand, with 'inland empire,' perhaps david 'got it out of his system'

and will do another 'elephant man' or equally fantastic film next. let's hope.

  • The last 30 minutes encapsulates why David Lynch should be making a new film instead of music.

  • wow what a terrible movie.
