The "last" Royal Naval Field gun race, FAA versus Portsmouth. Note the black armbands.

108 years have passed, and Ladysmith belongs to the Zulu Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal. But the feat of the gunners from "Powerful" and "Terrible" has never been forgotten.

  • To all politicians: wanna be popular? Want people to love you? want a real votewinner? BRING THIS MAGNIFICENT SPECTACLE BACK!!!

  • The pride and purpose in the march to Hearts of Oak, the drill at the sound of the G note, it brings tears to my eyes. I hate this country but I love my country.

  • what are their Fran times?

  • @rodentum44 Wellington run with smaller gun Barrels, Carriages and Limbers, the rest of their kit is full sized. In fact they use some of the exact same equipment that was used by Portsmouth, such as the 28 foot and sheer legs.

  • Whatever happened to the "Gun rigs"? Saw the Wellington School run this weekend but everything seemed miniature!

  • @yorktown99 It was an honour to run that night, one of the proudest and saddest nights of my career...c'mon the Air Arm!!

  • Just been to Chatsworth show and seen a much smaller scale, seen it live numerous times, definitely needs to be brought back!!! And I'm ex-army!!!

  • We are doing this at our cadets but on a much much much smaller scale :L x

  • The Olympics..prepare yourself for the embarrasment... "and here come Hackney borough councils youth worker brigade"....Urrrrrgh God... the shame.

  • I should have put this in my last post but in my generation everyone at any school I knew went to the Royal Tournament, and was amazed by this, the mast, the RAF dogs and all other parts we also went to HMS Belfast, The Mary Rose, The Imperial War Museum, Duxford or Old Warden, saw red arrows, Tigermoths, Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters and Concorde. All of these subtle recruiting grounds and instillers of pride and a sense of history if nothing else. Now only Top Gear can get away with it.
