For three years progressives have been trying to get President Barack Obama to live up to their expectations. And so far according to the founder of Progressive Democrats of America, they've been disappointed.

That's why Tim Carpenter is organizing people to go to the Iowa caucus and vote for "uncommitted" as a way challenge President Obama.

"We're organizing uncommitted slates to go to the caucus on Tuesday to challenge Barack Obama because he gave up on his promise to single payer (health care). He took too long to get troops out of Iraq. There's still troops in Afghanistan. And we need a financial transaction tax."

Carpenter's call to action can be backed up with political muscle. Progressive Democrats of America was formed out of the people who fueled the Presidential campaigns of Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich.

Carpenter appeared with the Reverend Jesse Jackson at an organizing meeting in a Des Moines area church this week. They both endorsed an "inside outside" strategy — asking activists to go to the caucuses and work inside the Democratic party as well as participating in the "occupy" movement that works outside the party.

  • One cant argue against the truth. Sadly the Prez has been a disappointment. That said if he wins reelection (likely given the current Republican crop) he must be staunchly challenged. Unlike the other candidates I still believe Obama can be coerced 2 do better. That many assumed Obama would be a self-motivated advocate 4 social/economic change was itself problematic & perhaps a bit naive. Such motivation is rare esp. given the lack of candor in politics. Leaders must be challenged 2 do better.

  • The next president "probably barry obama again" will have to be the elites perfect puppet.

IT"S THE SYSTEM WE NEED TO FIGHT!

Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.

Obama=corp Puppet Don't 'wait and see' if Ron Paul is elected. We can't RISK a Bachmann or Romney or Gingrich! Register Republican NOW & VOTE in the primarys! In Florida u have to be registered 29 days before the Primaries on Jan. 31. GO to the Supervisor of Elections office in your area, don't trust the US mail. It has been running slow

  • This strategy is a joke...If there is one thing clear about Obama it's that he does'nt work for us. He's just a pupet...

  • Tim Carpenter.....Okay....I'm glad there there is some Third Party activity. I've been very unhappy with Barak Obama, the President, as opposed to the Candidate.
