A hunt is on for pranksters who dyed a cat pink and tossed it over a garden fence in Swindon.

The RSPCA is trying to trace the owner of the animal and described the culprits as "sick".

The animal was discovered after she was thrown over a fence into a back garden in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The dye is not toxic but failed to budge with washing.

Vets are looking after the cat - now named Pink - at Cheldene Veterinary Centre and Boarding Cattery in Aldbourne, Marlborough.

Veterinary surgeon Penny Gillespie said: "We have no idea what the dye is or how long it will last. It is clearly not toxic but still unpleasant.

  • The dying process actually looks well done. Whoever did it carefully avoided the eyes and used a non-toxic substance. I don't believe it was done out of malice. Not pleasent, but at least the cat isn't harmed.

  • i used to be pink like that , ut then i took an arrow in the knee

  • @roxianna26 It's not crying for it's life, please try not to be over dramatic. I realize that no matter whether it was bleached or not it was still mistreated. However, it is most likely crying because it's stuck in an enclosure and wants out.

  • and this was how pink panther was born

  • @MrMollusk7 haha family guy when brian got dyed pink...love it

  • @roxianna26, You are thinking about bleaching and other dyes that include//indeed bleach or peroxide.

There are vegetable and other non-toxic dyes that are non threatening to animals. I think the only crime here is tossing the poor fella over a fence. && Trying to wash the dye out is even worse since cats should not be bathed in water frequently. Other than that the cat seems perfectly fine. They might have used Manic, which is non toxic, but it'll last.

:< Poor sweetums, getting named pink.

  • It's not easy, being pink.

  • @roxianna26 This cat is not harmed at all. I don't understand why this is considered "Sick" and the cat isn't crying for its life! lol. My cat meows like that all the time. It usually means hes just hungry or wants to play with something he can't reach. Annnd my cat is a natural black cat. No harm done to this cat at all.

  • Aw come on, she just wants to get back to her Video Games. :'( lol

  • First day being pink?

    Yeah.

    Welcome to hell.
