PBS - www.pbs.org
This video was taken from a TV episode of Secrets of the Dead, on PBS. an accurate representation of Christianity by the media. This episode starts with discussion of early church manuscripts and how the Roman Catholic Church kept the World ignorant of the Bible text by reading it in Latin. This involves the martyrdom of John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, and Thomas Cranmer.
@99goosebumps
No, but Simon Magus, did! This the Roman Catholic's "first pope!"
Mind you, the Roman Catholic Church didn't even come into existence until it was the PAGAN emperor Constantine UNITED the Pagans and the Christians into ONE UNIVERSAL RELIGION: thus you have a catholic religion, which means no more than UNIVERSAL religion. Look it up and see what "catholic" means!
Thus you have ALL OF THE PAGAN BELIEFS ADAPTED into this PAGAN religion, which is no more than a CULT!

@glizag They didn't kill him, but he spent the remainder ofhis life under house arrest.
An excerpt from the Wikipedia entry for Galileo:
"On 31 October 1992, Pope John Paul II expressed regret for how the Galileo affair was handled, and issued a declaration acknowledging the errors committed by the Catholic Church tribunal that judged the scientific positions of Galileo Galilei, as the result of a study conducted by the Pontifical Council for Culture."
Feel better now?

@glizag From the Wikipedia entry on the Church of England:
"The British monarch, at present Queen Elizabeth II, has the constitutional title of Supreme Governor of the Church of England. The canon law of the Church of England states, "We acknowledge that the Queen’s most excellent Majesty, acting according to the laws of the realm, is the highest power under God in this kingdom, and has supreme authority over all persons in all causes, as well ecclesiastical as civil."

@glizag Do the Popes of the last century or so STILL cling to infallibility? I left the RCC back in the early eighties, before confirmation, so I'm not up on these things. The last I heard, they did recant their decision on Galileo. How can the RCC change their mind on Galileo without at least a tacit admission of falibility?

@Asenueh Anglican church is now part of RCC but you wont answer about the infallibility & the inquistion ~ simply because if a Pope any pope apogises then he is ~ denying the infallibility of the popes during thse inquisitions RCC burned people for one reason ~ now bowing to catholicism, its that simple, & since this was a matter of faith (To do with faith) Popes are supposed to be infallible, now there is a major conflict ~ if the Pope apologises then ALL THE OTHER POPES WERE IN ERROR get it?

@glizag So, since the British head of state, also head of the Anglican Church, doesn't claim to be infallible, then I can expect an apology from her for the Durand Line, the British Raj, the Sykes-Picot Agreement, the Mandate of Palestine, promising a Jewish state to Jews AND a Palestinian state to Arabs, lying to the U. S. about Mossadegh, post-WW1 acts of revenge against Germany that alolowed for the rise of Hitler, etc. White Man's Burden was a matter of faith too.

@Asenueh Interesting but no head of state claims to be infallible like the Pope head of State of Vatican City the point that I was trying to make all along was that the Pope supposedly being infallible in faith & morals brought in Inquisitions to kill heretics who he claimed denied the faith THIS WAS A MATTER OF FAITH ~~ otherwise why burn / torture these people ~ if the Pope got up today & apologised he would be denying the infalliblity of those Popes who drafted in the inquisition Get my point
