http://energytomorrow.org This TV commerical reminds us that the U.S. has enough untapped oil and natural gas resources to power more than 60 million cars and heat 160 million households for 60 years. But unlike many countries, our Congress puts much of it off-limits. A majority of Americans say that should change. Today's technology allows us to tap these resources and protect the environment. So let's put America's oil and natural gas to work for Americans.

  • Have you seen the new ad ("Advanced Drilling Technology," Jan. 2011)? Apparently "decreasing our impact" is achieved simply by punching fewer holes in the earth's surface when we drill--horizontally--for oil? When I was a kid, I did the same thing; I would stick a straw through the skin of an orange and suck out the juice. I'd squeeze and squeeze until I got the last of it. Luckily, I had more than one orange.

  • @wilfearth Advanced oil drilling technology is actually quite complex. To learn more about the science behind it, check out another one of our channel's videos: "The Science Behind Drilling for Oil and Energy Exploration.”

  • Thanks but FRACKING no thanks !!!!! Let's look into wind and solar for a change. Even if we got every last drop of oil out of the ground we would still have to pay global market prices for oil - do you really think the oil companies would sell the oil cheaper to the Americans than they do to the Chinese ?. . . DREAm ON. Oil will always be sold for top dollar.

  • We need more energy from all sources fortunately there is not on top oil and natural gas here in America to power more than 60 million cars and heat 160 million households for 60 years, but unlike many countries our congress press much of it of limits. The majority of american say that should change , today's tecnology allows us to tap these resources and protect the enviroment, so that for America oil and natural gas to work for americans.

  • The lady in the ad, Brooke Alexander, is right on. Renewable energy supplied nearly all industrial energy until 150 years ago, when it was shoved aside by better things. Except for photovoltaics, it hasn't improved much since then.

Despite the hype, we have to face the likelihood that the next 40 years of green energy will be a lot like the last 40 years: extravagant promises and little action.

We should use green energy as much as we can, but we'll go broke it we rely on it.

  • If we were able to tap all our oil reserves would we be able to eliminate foreign imports of oil?

  • there are oil wells all over America that are not producing they are in ohio, indiana there is oil everywhere.Of course they wont increase production because that would lower prices.

  • @VPSantiago you probably wouldn't live till then if carbon dioxide levels continue to go up....

  • 9.2 million low paying, dangerous, crappy jobs that is. And that's all they boast about.... enslaving people to work in dirty jobs... which actually kill people. What's the meaning of jobs if it's just going to hut our economy? What's the meaning of jobs if it's just going to increase catastrophes and murder innocent lives? What's the point of jobs if the employees pay can't even compensate for the rising oil prices? It's time to switch to another source of energy. Now.

  • Fantastic! We can fuel 60 million cars for 60 years. Whoopee!

Oh, she forgot to mention that there are 250 million registered vehicles in the US so I guess that 190 million vehicles are going to be powered by fairy dust.

Even if we drill every square inch of this country we still won't have enough oil to power this fantasy. I Guess sooner or later those high speed electric trains are going to look better and better.

And @wilfearth google "laws of thermodynamics" It's basic physics...

  • @VPSantiago The End
