Today Wednesday, September 24, 2008, John McCain Suspends his Campaign to Help With Bailout.
John McCain will suspend his presidential campaign Thursday so that he can return to Washington to help negotiate a Wall Street bailout (a 1 Trillion Dollars), and he is urging Barack Obama to do the same.
The Republican presidential candidate also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone his first debate with Obama, which is scheduled to take place Friday night at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system, Sen. McCain said in mid-afternoon remarks to reporters in New York. If we do not act, every corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.
McCains call to suspend campaigning and postpone the first debate was rejected by Obama, who spoke in response less than two hours later.
Presidents are going to have to deal with more than one thing at a time, Sen. Obama said. Its not necessary for us to think that we can only do one thing and suspend everything else. He said that he and McCain have large campaign planes that can get them out of Mississippi and back to Washington quickly.
Sen. Obama youre not president yet, your duty is as a Senator is to provide and service those who elected you, so stop pretending that youre the president.
By stepping away from the first debate, McCain he is giving up an opportunity to show off his foreign policy credentials. He had negotiated strongly to make foreign policy, his strong suit, the topic of the first of the three debates. On the other hand, McCain has been criticized for being weak on the issue of economy.

  • So as it turns out, John was RIGHT to want to suspend his campaign. The majority democrat House shot down the Bailout, and now the DOW has PLUMMETED over 700 points.

Wallstreet is crashing, and Obama (thinking of himself) is still making speeches.

What is it, 3 so far since the debate?

Hey Mr. Obama, please don't forget, you are still a Senator. Please do your job.

  • McCainForPrez80, Subscribe to USNOX channel...

  • What a load of bullshit. This guy is running away from a losing campaign.

  • His not running away, his doing his job to serve those who elected him, we pay them 160K+ a year, I know a few who just want to get pay for doing nothing like Obama;

    --Obama--

    4yrs in senate,

    No major bill/law pass,

930+ Million pork barrel spending, lets round it off to a billion,

+160Kx4=640K, and nothing to show for those who elected him.

Now just bypass the speeches of Obama, and look at his record and now think...

  • McCain will not unite this country. He will use our fear against us just as Bush did. Fear should not decide who wins this election.

  • LOL... Guessing youre not really that much into politics, you most likely see the Obama TV Ads... Any person who believes that McCain and Bush are the same, they only watch Obama Ads... LOL... #86

  • McCain can kiss my ass and Palin can suck my dick!!

  • Ok Mr. McCain, have you actually passed a bill to help the economy? If not, what is it you actually did to help the economy? Did you give the people 700 billion dollars to bail them out? Jesus Christ..

  • does that mean you like me? HAHA

  • vote obama!

  • If you want to insult someone, I suggest you do it with a bit more charisma and couth. Your grammar is terrible and therefore you have lost all credibility in my eyes. Lose the condescending attitude and stop presuming that you know something, maybe then you will understand. McCain attempted to suspend his campaign as a publicity stunt, and when it backfired, he went on with the debate anyways. He tried to use the fear of another depression to his advantage.

  • For your record, these are the national polls after the debate: Who Won?

    CNN: Obama 51%; McCain 38%

    MSNBC: Obama 52%; McCain 33%

    CBS: Obama 39%; McCain 25%; Tie 36%

  • How about you bypass the record, and look at his speeches. ;)

  • jodileernshaw...you're the bullshit. Stop crying.
