Friday's match between the Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders is going to be remembered for one thing, and one thing only: Steve Zakuani's horrific injury that probably ended his season and very well could impact his career. The speedy midfielder was taken down by a harsh, reckless and late tackle by Brian Mullan, who received a red card. Zakuani's tibia and fibula were broken and he's expected to undergo surgery on Saturday.

The Sounders ultimately won the match 1-0 on Fredy Montero's first goal of the season. Mauro Rosales picked up the assist as Montero beat Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens on a ball that didn't look particularly well struck.

From there, the Sounders looked like a team that was carrying considerable weight. Despite being a man up, they did not control possession and by the end of the match, were obviously fighting serious fatigue. The Rapids had several chances to equalize, but the Sounders did just enough to secure their first shutout of the season.

  • @TheSwaggasotight haha that is probably the dumbest comment i've ever read, fag

  • @TheSwaggasotight you're the biggest cunt on the planet, no one deserves that, except you and Brian.

  • That sound will haunt me ages... I'm never gonna watch shitty MLS again, and i thought I hated Liga BBVA. Ouch, poor guy, and anyone who says something like he deserved it, well, he didn't. And anyone who said it could happen to anyone from anyone, true, and he did it, so he should be banned forever.

  • Ok I get that it was a bad tackle to go into but he has done that hundreds of times before and no one has ever gotten hurt, and you guys have to remember you are playing a sport and injuries do happen it doesn't make him a bad guy. In person he is really nice and is normally a clean player he is just committed to what he does and he probably feels really bad about what he did. But it is in the past now so get over it. Honestly this is why I don't bother watching MLS cause you are all out to get

  • that sound

  • @huslerbling its his good right

  • LOL SSFC fakest MLS fans ever. where was the sell out crowds when they were in the USL. Zakuani deserves it he's a damn thug!

  • @vanillasunshyne

Wow, seems like you're the jealous one with all that hate that you're spewing. I don't care about fan base, I care about quality, and stats show that we won the cup, have you? That's what I thought...

You can talk all you want about "crapids, fanbase etc." But you're the loser trying to convince yourself that Seattle is better.

PS, I'd live in Denver any day over your POS city, the people aren't completely disrespectful, ignorant, and utterly embarrassing citizens.

  • @mikenumber22 you are living in the past. Congrats that you won one of the worst MLS Cup finals of all time. Everyone knows that was a fluke. everyone except the Rapids fans. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Have fun getting demolished in the CONCACAF Champions League. My prediction is you take second in the group (cuz you have the easiest group of all) and then get killed in the first elimination round.

  • @mlsrefssuck

We still won the cup... get that through your small brain. We are the champions, no one else, and that's what matters. CHAMPIONS! Suck it...
