"Man's best friend.

Woman's best friend.

Loyal companions who become our protectors.

So many of these dogs would give their lives for us...

...so many are forced to.

About 6 to 8 million animals enter shelters per year. Only half of that number is adopted out. The other half is euthanized.

If so many abandoned dogs are here waiting for a chance to be loved, where do we get our dogs?

Maybe you or someone you know has bought a dog from a pet store, but where do these puppies come from?

Here's where so many of our beloved canine friends come from. The few that survive end up in pet stores, auctions, and homes.

In puppy mills, dogs are bred rebred and often inbred every time they come into heat. They live outside most of the time in unprotected cages and there are often several in one cage. The conditions are enough to make them sick, but there is no veterinary care.

It's time to reciprocate the unconditional love and loyalty dogs have given us for so long. Adopt a friend waiting to love you from a pound or shelter and take a stand against puppy mills."

  • Oh God, so true.

  • @Koreagrrl Rubbish. Pet Smart were discovered for using puppy mills. They lied and everyone, like you believed them.

  • FYI Petsmart does not use puppy mills or catteries. They promote adoption. However they have been noted to use other types of animal mills (such as bird mills) to get their exotics.
