With the new update the phone has an option to change its orientation when you flip it sideways. :)

This was a great vid, but it does have a accelerometer. It doesn't work automatically with the built in software, but with apps like "Steel" it auto-rotates the browser when you turn it in landscape. Also Chomp sms does it too.
