WWE Raw 12/27/10 CM Punk Joins Nexus
According to WWE Characters the Blog, Punk had been promising something big for Cena all night. At the start of the WWE Raw episode, John Cena arrived to the ring to call out Punk for the previous chair attacks. Punk arrived out to let Cena know what his grudge was all about. He brought up Cena's treatment of other stars including the way he disposed of Punk's good pal, Dave Bautista in an I Quit match and the recent unleashing of about 15 steel chairs onto Wade Barrett at the TLC Pay-Per-View. Punk noted he'd have something major in store for Cena later in the evening. Throughout the episode Punk was informing various WWE personnel to be on alert.
Later in the night, John Cena arrived to the ring saying rather than Punk calling him out, he'd make the first move. Cena was soon greeted by five members of the faction known as The Nexus. David Otunga, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris arrived to ringside without their leader Wade Barrett. Otunga stepped into the ring to inform Cena that Nexus was under "new management." He also offered Cena a truce, but Cena wasn't hearing it. He suggested Nexus to leave the scene.
Otunga seemed to oblige as he and the crew headed up the ramp. However, they soon turned around, headed back to the ring and beat down Cena in the ring. The 5-on-1 attack left Cena down on the mat. Otunga symbolically dropped a Nexus wristband next to the fallen Cena. He and the crew raised their arms standing above Cena, then left the ring.
However, the biggest shocker happened next. As The Nexus headed backstage, they suddenly stopped as CM Punk's music hit. Punk arrived, walked through them down the ramp and got a steel chair. He got into the ring, prepared to smash Cena with the chair, then stopped and set it up. Punk took a seat and after several moments slid the Nexus wristband onto his arm. The new leader of Nexus has been unveiled. In 2011, CM Punk will be guiding the faction, and it appears Cena will be a top priority on their list, again.
Some fans are loving this new story, while others don't really see it as new. Cena had been feuding with the Nexus guys for a few months now. Many thought his feud had ended with the dispatching of leader Wade Barrett at the TLC Pay-Per-View. Probably the biggest question out of all this will be what is Wade Barrett's role with WWE moving forward. He was doing a pretty good job at generating heat and getting the fans to hate him. However, he was beaten badly in a chairs match at TLC. Still, the winner of the first ever NXT seems to have a promising career in WWE. Will he return as a heel, face or be moved to Smackdwon?
The video below shows the conclusion to the 12/27/10 episode of WWE Raw. What do you think of the new CM Punk joining Nexus story? Is it too much of the same thing with John Cena? Is this a good or bad idea for CM Punk's future?
