It's stikes me how Johnny Cash's 'Hurt' had the quality of a Psalm about it and there's also the allusions to the passion week

To begin with, I created an animation made up of photos I took of the Stations of the Cross sculptures at Southwell Minister in Nottinghamshire. Then I placed this animation along side the amazing video for 'Hurt' by Mark Romanek.

  • yeah - well i like to be a bit controversial

  • Whether I agree with the msg of your intent is not an issue with me. However, if you have the intention to be 'controversial', you should really be more creative about it. You just plopped the psalms in the beginning. I could do that without thinking. You're basically a text-generating editor.

  • thanks for the comment murcury. my reply was slightly tongue in cheek - because the comment made me smile. Also I genuinely think this song is like a psalm... both Reznors orignial and Cash's interpretation.

As for me needing to be more creative - you may well have a point. All I did was take photos + fitted them with the music etc + add text. Nothing complex technically - but thats not really my concern, I think there's alot within the video to think about and contemplate.

  • Ah...well, a wise man once said "Facetiousness does not translate well into print." Plus it was a little late in the evening...

  • "Facetiousness does not translate well ..." - so true! ... I should know better!

    Thanks for dropping by!

  • @jonnyjpg Wow you guys that was one of the most civil discussions on youtube I've ever seen:)

  • Well, I like this song, but its not about the stations of the Cross :/

  • Love this song....Hurt is an amazing song.....

  • and how do you know jonnyjpg wasn't one of them?

  • You did not create this, we saw this at my school in church when a group visited us. You're a Liar!

  • Thank you for posting this, I love this version of the song.

  • in the original version, there is no line "crown of throns"...

  • well, if he wrote it, then he was the one who put in the line about the crown of thorns- a direct reference to Jesus and therefore Christianity.
