I used to go up there all the time when I was a kid to fish with my mom and her boyfriend in the early 80's. Looks like the place is in sad disrepair...or maybe the face that I have lived in the U.P. for the last 23 years has jaded my view of what is beautiful...which is outside my door everyday! Good memories, though!!
Thanks to the Army Corps of Engineers for opening up the locks to keep the Mississippi level high enough for transport. All the Great Lakes are suffering from low levels the past 15 years.
Awesome place. We live about 40 miles SOuth of there. Dad and I used to go trout fishing there when I was a kid. Last time I was there it was pretty sad, I couldn't believe how low the water was.
