On August 21, 2009, Subir and Smeeta brought both their families and faiths together in a marriage celebration. We arrived at 8 am to the historical Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where Smeeta was preparing for her special day. She wore a golden Gharara with gold embroidery detail accented with a deep red chunni.

Since the bride is Sikh, they held their first ceremony at the Vermont Gurdwara in Los Angeles, the very place where her parents were married 29 years earlier. The bride's family welcomed the groom's side with a milni ceremony (exchange of garlands). After the ceremony, all the guest were ushered out to the lobby area for breakfast. They held a traditional Hindu ceremony in the evening at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. With all of their friends and family dancing, the baraat procession entered the ceremony area to the sounds of their dear friends and dhol players Mandeep Bhui & Shabaz Mattu. After the ceremony, they held a small reception where the bride's sister, Ameeta, toasted the new Mr. and Mrs. Singh followed by food, music and dancing.
