This is an old Public Domain song which was originally performed by Al Jolson. It was a hit in the early 1960s by Ian Whitcomb. I have changed a few of the lyrics. The piano keys stick sometimes and I have to hit them hard which makes the piano extra loud in the video. Lyrics;
Thousands of years ago, Maybe More,
Out on an island on a lonely shore,
Robinson Crusoe landed one fine day,
No rent to pay, no wife to obey,
His good man Friday was his only friend,
He didn't borrow or lend,
They built a bamboo hut, stayed there 'til Friday, but,
Saturday night it was shut,
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night,
Every Saturday night they would start out to roam,
Then on Sunday morning they'd come staggering home,
This island had wild life and,
No political races,
Who would want to be resuced,
From such an oasis,
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night,
Robinson Crusoe was a good ol' scout,
Robinson Crusoe knew his way about,
On this island were wild men with cannibal trimmins,
And where there are wild men there must be wild womens
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night,
Robinson Crusoe knew life was grand,
Robinson Crusoe was a happy man,
He had adventures without limitations,
Who'd want to leave that island to go back,
to civilization,
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night,
Every Saturday night they would go out alone,
Then on Sunday morning they'd come,
Staggering home,
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night,
One fine night they had nothing to do,
So they started counting all the ladies they knew,
Friday got to thirteen and Crusoe said,
"Hey, Brother,
Thirteen's unlucky,
Let's go find another,"
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
With Friday on Saturday night, I gotta know,
Where did Robinson Crusoe go,
On Saturday night, I wanna know,
great stuff Tom..I really enjot you tunes so much!

Although you may be the oldest person I've seen on youtube, your videos are quite refreshing. I've used a few public domain songs in videos myself.

I just found an Al Jolson version of this. It is a pretty fun song. Although it doesn't promote abstinence as much as I hoped it would. You really didn't change the lyrics all that much.

Al Jolson did many great songs. Some are in public domain. I am trying to figure out some more of his songs to do again. I just took out the hare and chicken references and added the civilization and oasis verses. It was also a big hit for Ian Whitcomb. Many of the old songs still sound fresh. Thanks.
