Jerry Emmons got a tetanus and a pneumonia shot in June 2009. Now hes in a wheelchair. His legs are paralyzed, and his arms weak.

The shots had caused the Guillain-Barre syndrome.

I could be over this is in six to eight months. I could be up and walking again, said Emmons. Yeah, I hope.

I have to be here 24-7, said wife Jo Ann Emmons. Its like taking care of a baby again, and it is not fair to Jerry.

The Centers for Disease Control says inoculations can trigger the progressive and paralyzing Guillain-Barre syndrome. The Emmons worry about plans for a massive swine flu vaccination program.

Im having no more shots for flu, no more shots for nothing, said Jerry Emmons.

In 1976, one person died of swine flu. A national vaccination program was stopped because 25 died of reactions, including the Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Nope not getting the shot! I'm in the healthcare field and I will be refusing. We have to realize not all of those shots will be the same. They're will be some "special" shots given out to test the reactions. Whatever man. Wash your hands constantly, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough and seek medical attention if you have flu symptoms. Same standard precautions. But this vaccine does not have enough research to be given or received. My opinion only...

just took all my comments down. bottom line is had a very bad reaction to a tetanus shot given 10days ago. ended up in ER. On strong antibiotics now and still sick. If you hv ANYTHING going on in ur body that may compromise immunity ie; simple cold sore-active on lip(virus), DON'T get tetanus or any flu type shot.

@judyrusso it's way tooooo late for that. We are way past that. Idc if you go to the gym every day and don't smoke and drink only bottled water-now ur setting urself up not to have antibodies against anything. IF we all did from beginning of time, YES. I hear ya, but too late.
