Julie Christie is not full of herself. She is actually very low key for Hollywood standards. She isn't really into the whole Hollywood Setting. Honestly I was a bit surprised when I saw her at the Oscars because I wasn't quite sure she would show. Celebrities should use their voices to ignite change because they have the means of doing so. I don't have an audience of fifty million people watching me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Your statement about Julie just shows how little you know about her. She's a very private and dignified woman, and she comes across as very intelligent. She uses her celebrity in small amounts. I would rather listen to her than to the likes of Sean Penn and Jane Fonda.

@PadrethePio I like the celebrities who get involved without making it about themselves and broadcasting it and preaching to people. Take the classy Catherine Deneuve who said, "no one cares what I have to say about politics!"

@JoshFi I agree that I don't think she's full of herself and she's a true activst. But I don't think celebrities SHOULD speak out. Obviously they are free to do so but I don't think just because they act on the screen their political opinions should be given more importance and value. If anyone votes for a candidate or cause simply because some movie star said so, they are stupid.

Oh stop being a bitch. The point of this activism is to help people understand that taking joy in torturing ANYONE whether a victim or a terrorist dehumanizes us. It's never as simple as you would like to think...put yourself in the shoes of those in military positions who tortured the Guantanamo prisoners...I just wonder if you could fucking live with yourself.
