Mesh has come to SL! In this lesson, we'll learn how to use the Shelf UV Map that we downloaded to our own hard drives in the last lesson to make a marequetry top for the Arts & Crafts Plant Stand.

If you missed the last lesson, you can find it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpjmCqKEde0

  • JudiG, only save at 32 bit if you need transparency, and have made an alpha channel.

The "bits" are the channels; 8 bits per channel. A 3 channel image has 24 bits (3x8.) The channels are Red, Green and Blue, of course. A 32 bit image has 4 channels (4x8) with the extra one being the Alpha Channel. If you didn't make an alpha, it'll be white (no transparency) but there.

So your textures will have the same alpha sorting issues you get with a texture that has transparency. And.. do not want.

  • You have such a beautiful and pleasing voice, and for once, I could completely understand a tutorial, with out feeling like I was taking a basics course.

I have one question though, or perhaps a favor. I am a designer in secondlife, dealing mostly with hand sculpted/textured hair and clothing, and am trying to get into the field of mesh, but have seem to come up short in finding a tutorial. What I am asking is if you may possibly make a mesh creation or even perhaps rigging tutoral. Thankyou!

  • Why is the texture saved here at 24bit? I've always been taught to save at 32bit.
