You wouldn't last though the first call.... go back to ur desk and be thankful people put their life on the line, get paid near to nothing or volunteer, take ur crap, and still be there to help you. Its sad how many stupid people we have in America these days SMH Keep it up FDNY!

  • I appreciate firefighters, they do great work. Thank you for your service :)

  • @Taketheheat73 True I've read so many comments about people complaining how slow they are getting hose out or something. And better yet they don't know and understand the fact that there are volunteers out there like my whole family and get paid nothing at all to come save their ass at 2 oclock in the morning. And they don't realize that the bunker gear with scba and nomex makes your body heat rise a whole lot and it e weighs nearly 40 to 50 pounds total.

  • @Colecz exposures to a building right beside the vehicle.

  • Damn nyfd rides deep. We ride 2 to an engine normal

  • @Colecz

Because the ladder carries all of the tools and you never now what the situation will be until you get there. Maybe someone could be trapped in the car & have to be cut out. Maybe it's a multi-car accident and you have to stabilize the vehicles before you can do a rescue. The point is...it's better to have it and not need it...than need it and not have it.

  • @Dakota0626 Opening the door while the truck is still moving is plain stupid no matter what dept. does it. Guys have died from stupid little mistakes like that. As for the line they use, using a 200' preconnect isn't neccesarily a bad thing, it's just more work to get back in service. Some times guys do things just because "that's the way we always done it". I prefer to work smart, and not hard. Those guys are busy, I'd think they'd want to make things a little easier on themselves.

  • @ffjsb FDNY sends an engine and ladder on every car fire from what I understand. Yes they open the door as the pull up to scenes, that's just the way they do things. Different departments do things different ways. It's common around here to have 200 foot 1 3/4 or 1 1/2 preconnects or 100 foot trash lines. It just varies. But to say your way is better than any other departments isn't really helpful. FDNY sees a lot of this and has experience doing it, so I'm sure there is a reason for it.

  • @Dakota0626 There was no traffic problem on this fire, they had it shut down and at least a couple of cops on the scene. And as I watched it again, I noticed the door on the ladder was already open way before they stopped. WTF?? That's just dumb. Way too much hose for just a car fire, we just use 100' feet of 1 1/2" for that.

  • @ffjsb A lot of places use the ladder for traffic control.
