After a few mounths of design time finally first prototype is ready for research and development processes. This model is a base for me to make some researches and developments about software, like guiding, Go-To system and servo control, and hardware, like gear ratios, power transmission and strength calculations of the mount parts for lighter and precise final product. Hopefully the final product will be on the market around the last quarter of 2010. Sales will be over an internet site at first but there will be dealers in US and Europe.

  • New version of this mount is ready for production. In the new version there is no reducers. Servo motors are directly connected to the axes. All electronic equipments are OMRON and there is a small PC that drives all features of the mount such as guiding, programmable astrophotography and many other. It will be on the market about late summer I guess. Another key feature is the weight of the mount; less than 30kg / 66lbs (without counterweights and counterweight shaft).

  • Nice work there. You could probably use smaller Servo's than 400W especially with the amount of reduction you have there.

  • @fdosdesign

They will be replaced with 100W ones in the final product.

  • That would work. Nice to see someone using Brushless servos though. What is the PLC's function? Are you developing your own goto system in Ladder Logic?

  • @fdosdesign

PLC is for main control and the interface with the computer software and Servos. I'm developing a software which runs in a small industrial PC for goto and guiding system. Mount will have a touch screen that provides full control of the system.

  • Are you producing this mount yet? Do you have any US distributors? I would be interested.

  • @Drumybum

only the color is nearly same. I have 5 different colors.

  • Nicw work ! a little bit loud, as for me :)

  • Mount is so strong that you even don't need counter weights for telescopes up to 30kgs.
