http://www.livingpianos.com/blog - The piano presents tremendous challenges in sight reading. While basic tone production on the piano is easier than almost any instrument, (Just try to get a sound out of a flute!) composers make up for it by writing incredibly complex scores.
I don't play piano, but I really learned a lot from this video. Thank you for sharing! Cheers!

Awesome video. Just for clarification, when you say you couldn't read music, you mean you couldn't sight read, correct? I assume when you say you memorized pieces in order to play them, you were not learning by ear? You would read a small portion slowly, memorize, and them move to the next section? Is that correct? Great video, thanks a lot.

What you say is unbeleaveable for me. I have tried almost anything in order to sight read piano, but it´s incredibly difficult. For example, can you sight read Scriabin fourth Sonata ? What about tempo ? tonal music is something easier, but atonal music is very complex to read, because we lose common music relationships...

I find when I practice piano all I am able to do is memorize. It takes me a very long time to learn pieces. My biggest struggle is the ability to read both clefs simultaneously. I played the trumpet for 6 years, so now, I feel cursed because my brain tends to get befuddled when I have to translate two different clefs at once. Do you have any tips to aid me in my ability to read music?
I love the videos! I wish you could be my piano teacher because you are a very interesting speaker!
