  • Just heard about the death of Mr. James Arness, and this song instantly came to mind (Waylon, too, will always be one of my favs); to my delight, a painting of him is featured at 31 secs. in! Well done! You've captured a lot of legends and heroes in this one! :)

  • @Bonneville81 Thank you very much. Yes it is sad to hear about his passing, yet another great cowboy actor gone. He will be missed.

  • @der2035. Let us never confuse acting cowboy as being one. Cowboys do not act, the hard life of putting up with nature and the sleazy sure is no acting. Don’t you get swayed by a song as being the cowboy life. Our free spirit is in the open range, horses, cattle and kids teaching them manhood principles to continue the legacy. The cowboy (vaquero) is a man of yesterday but much alive. Cowboys do not have to be in the big screen to exist. We’ve done without them good actors for centuries.

  • GoldenPig2012 I think we all should mourn the loss of the era, he is fading fast, even the western tv/movie star is a dead art. couple films here and there. Nobody today would do 15-20 westerns. They lived the part back then, now, penthouse on wheels, 2 week location shots and back to studio. I find better country music in street venders then the pop stars that act like country singers. Thank god for what has been given us though. Best wish's

  • Ive listened this amazing music since i was like 7!Waylon/Willie/Johnny/Merl Haggard/David Allen Coe and Hank Williams Jr.are true country legends not htis foney Kieth Urban and all these other counbtry pop singers!

  • Love cowboy shows. It would have been great to live the life

  • My heroes have always been cowboys. From john Wayne to Jimy Stewart to Clint Eastwood. But my favorite hero/ cowbit was my brother Dean. He lived his life as best he could and always acted like a cowboy. He did what he could for others and always put others in front of himself. I miss him so much.

  • @ScrappyGater Some day all we have are the memories of all the great cowboy's

  • This song is the anthem of every man I ever knew growing up in Oklahoma. It is my definition of what a man is supposed to be, from grandfather to ex-husband. Loved every one of them and do still. My sons, God love them are leaving "the words of my youth fade away" and I mourn the passing of an era I lived, but will soon just be "history".
