There are numerous Amato Opera veterans including established singers like mezzo-soprano Mignon Dunn and a host of stellar names that could have penned this homage to Amato Opera of New York.
After 60 years of opera seasons Anthony Amato said, "I'm 88 years old, and I'm a little tired. I have a few years left." He said he might write his memoirs and wants to establish a foundation to give awards to young singers, conductors and directors. One thing is apparent, just like the Old Met, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Ebbets Field, Nathans Hot Dogs, the Bowery Boys and Old Yankee Stadium; the Amato Opera is what makes New York and what makes making opera all about. Just like the old trolley cars we miss them each time we cross the street because they leave their tracks beneath our feet. Anthony and Sally Amato are the tracks that showed us how a life is to be lived and how to follow those tracks while making new tracks for others. All New York opera singers whether home grown or from afar say: I ringraziamenti per tutto dai suoi cantanti la sua che adorano - buona fortuna - baci
This recording was made at Amato Opera by tenor David Montefiore in a performance conducted and directed by Anthony Amato: Ma se m'e forza perdeti from the opera Un Ballo in Maschera.
